Defensive Tactics for First Responders


This class will focus on scene safety, crew safety, safe patient care and transport when dealing with a violent
and or under-the-influence/ combative patient(s). Please join Eric Zohar as he provides the knowledge and
skills necessary to:

 Prepare, Plan, and Train on How to Respond
 Recognizing Possible Threats
 Defense Tactics
 Crew Communication Tactics
 Use of Force Focusing on De-Escalation Tactics
 Safe Patient Contact
 Tactics for Operating in an Unsafe Environment
 Hands-On Skills for Breaking Free, Escape an Assault, and Surviving a Violent Attack
 Safe Transport

This course may be applied toward Preparatory or General Elective hours under the NYS DOH BEMS CME
Recertification Program
