The Instructor
This course is taught by Eric Zohar, a highly qualified instructor whose extensive background uniquely positions him to train emergency preparedness, safety, and defense. A veteran and trainer in the Israeli Defense Forces, Eric has decades of experience in real-world crisis response and tactical operations. His expertise spans advanced self-defense techniques—including black belts in both Krav Maga and Tae Kwon Do—and he is a certified NRA firearms trainer with a deep understanding of personal and community safety.
As the owner of a locksmith and security company, Eric brings technical knowledge of residential and commercial protection systems. In his role as a Fire Commissioner and a lead trainer for First Responders, he provides real-world insights into coordination with emergency services and best practices during critical incidents. Eric’s mission is to empower civilians with the confidence, skills, and tools they need to protect themselves and their families during any emergency.
About the Course
The Readiness Series is a 3-part training program designed to help congregational leaders, staff, and volunteers strengthen their approach to safety, security, and emergency preparedness. Through a blend of expert instruction, real-world scenarios, and practical planning tools, participants will gain the knowledge and confidence to assess risk, implement protective measures, and respond effectively to critical incidents.Â
Key Outcomes:
- Develop a Comprehensive Safety Plan
Participants will learn how to assess risk, organize a security team, and implement layered protective measures tailored to their congregation’s needs. - Gain Confidence in Active Threat Response
Through scenario-based training and guided protocols, attendees will understand how to respond effectively to active shooter or intruder situations, including lockdown, evacuation, and communication strategies. - Foster a Culture of Vigilance and Preparedness
Leaders will leave equipped to engage their community, train volunteers, and establish clear roles and routines that strengthen both safety and cohesion. - Â
